Tucker Redding, SJ

STORYTELLER.

While obtaining my Master's Degree in Communication at St. Louis University, I realized the importance of stories. Cultures, religions, and people all use stories to convey truth and meaning. I want to spend my life telling stories and helping people tell their stories. This page is dedicated to showing some of the ways that I have captured and shared groups and their stories.

"Extra/Ordinary Lives: Bellarmine House of Studies"

Bellarmine House of Studies is my Jesuit community is St. Louis, MO. The members of this house are in "First Studies," one of the stages of Jesuit formation. This is the first of a series of videos meant to show what is ordinary and extraordinary about Jesuit life.

"175 and Counting"

St. Francis Xavier (College) Church is celebrating its 175th anniversary in 2016. This video highlights the church's unique identity in St. Louis.

"Seeking Identity"

The Documentation Assistance Program of St. Francis Xaver Church in St. Louis helps people to obtain their birth certificate and/or state ID. This video allows you to hear the stories of some of the individuals who seek out this service.

Note: This video was filmed, edited, and produced using only an iPad mini. This shows that I am capable of producing quality content with minimal resources.

"Sacred Stillness"

This photo essay explores the potential of photography in a religious context. Photos take you through the Easter Vigil, allowing you to see aspects of the ceremony that you may not always see and reflect on moments that are otherwise fleeting.

"Under-Documented"

This is an audio documentary that highlights the problems associated with not having access to documentation documents, such as birth certificate and/or state ID. Hear the stories of people who are simply looking for the resources they need to survive, yet are blocked because of a small piece of plastic.
